Getting to know Sylvester

Q: What is the most significant passage in the Bible?

A: The passage that is most significant to me is Psalms 37:25 “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.”

I remember reading this passage when I was going through one of the darkest periods of my life and in this passage I was reminded that no matter what life may bring my way, God will never leave me nor forsake me.

Q: What is your dream vacation?

A: My dream vacation is to travel to Israel. It is my desire to walk the paths and travel through the cities that my Lord and Savior traveled.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: One of my interests is browsing through antique and second hand stores. I do a lot of research on antiques so I know what to look for. My second passion is the restoration of antiques.

Getting to know Carolyn

Q: What is the most significant passage in the Bible?

A: Philippians 1:6 Being confident in this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Significant to me because at the beginning of my walk with the Lord it seemed as if I was constantly falling to live a life “without spot or winkle.”  I thought perhaps I should just give up, because surely God wouldn’t just keep forgiving me.  Then one day one of the old saints, Elder Phillips sat down and shared this verse with me.  He assured me that God had not and would not give up on the “good work” he had begun in me.

Q: Who are your favorite authors and books?

A: My favorite author is Jane Austen.  In 2007 had the delight of visiting her burial site in Winchester Cathedral, in Winchester, Hampshire, England.  She is buried in the Cathedral among, saints, kings, and bishops.

Q: What is one thing you want every unbeliever to know?

A: The one thing I would want every unbeliever to know is that it is better to error of the side of believing there is only one God;  His Son Jesus Christ is the one way; and the Bible is His inspired Word, then to reject God and His Son and face an eternality  absent of His presence.  There is an old song with these lines, “If heaven was never promised to me, even the hope to live eternally, it’s been worth it just having the Lord in my life, living in a world of darkness, He’s brought me the light.”
